Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to my blog, Baking Cookies with Emily Howard Thomas!

If you’ve actually found this blog and are actually reading the posts, count me as amazed to the point of lightheadedness. With the millions of other blogs out there, the odds of anyone reading a blog from some anonymous soul who isn’t giving the URL to all their friends is pretty astronomical. To be honest, this blog is less about my desire for people to read what I say because I am so narcissistic as to think that I have particularly notable opinions or am a recognized expert in anything. Rather, this blog is really therapy for me to blow off steam about the things that are top of mind and meaningful to me from day-to-day.

Obviously, Emily Howard Thomas is a pseudonym. Why hide behind the anonymity of the Internet? To be honest, it’s about money. I am an executive in a business and although I will readily stand behind the opinions, beliefs, ideas and convictions I plan to express in my blog entries, the fact of the matter is that some of those things could hurt my business. As I have a family for which I must provide a home, regular meals and countless other amenities, getting out there and posting as myself just isn’t worth the risk. Is this a cop-out? Maybe. Probably. But this is my blog and I’ll post how I want to. I’ll think about revealing myself sometime after I retire and am sitting on a tropical beach spending my children’s inheritance.

So what sort of things am I apt to say that may offend people? If you’re a right-wing, gun-nut who cares deeply for the United States and are four-square opposed to Islamofacism, abortion-on-demand and for the death penalty for pedophiles, probably very little will offend you. If you’re a left-wing, head-up-your-ass, useful idiot who hates America and everything it stands for then you’ll be plenty offended (good!).
